PrivacyParticipation in AlphaBeta Finder is completely and confidentially up to you. Please click here to see our Privacy Statement for our official policy. However, in this section, we describe our contact process so that you understand when and under what circumstances your identifying information is provided to another individual or organization. We protect your privacy, but we also require that you update your information at least every 6 months so that your interest, availability, and profile are accurate for searches. For any of our users, whether they are Alphas or Betas or Development Project Companies, if we receive information from any user or source that something about your profile, project, skills, or background was false or misleading or that you are not complying with our Terms of Use or Privacy Agreement, we will place your records on hold so they are not viewable on the site. Depending upon the circumstances, we may try to contact you to straighten out the situation or we may remove your records permanently. If we do try to contact you but you do not respond or work with us to determine the accuracy of your information, we will remove your records from our service. The accurate identifying information we know about you is only your email address. We ask for your name but it can be any nickname or identifier you prefer. We do not ask for information that hackers might want such as social security numbers, your physical address, or your credit history. If you are a development project company and purchase our service, we use a secure merchant service for credit card transactions that will itself require payor name, address, and credit card number, but AlphaBeta Finder does not know or retain any credit card information on our servers.
Privacy for Alpha and Beta Users and OrganizationsYour Privacy is Kept Until You Decide to Test on a Specific Project with a Specific Development Company. At no time do we offer your contact information or your profile information for any purpose other than as test candidates for our development project subscribers. Our Terms of Use require that all our users pledge not to use contact details they obtain from our service for sales or other purposes other than Alpha or Beta matching and connecting. Our goal is to connect interested, willing, and available users with software projects. You fill out information about the computers you know and use, such as a Windows laptop or a Linux Treo, and the types of software you know, such as a browser or online shopping, and also the types of business knowledge or other skill you might have, such as work experience as a loan officer or a hair stylist. We do ask for some voluntary demographic information such as age or disabilities because some development projects are specifically targeted to these segments. We do not use demographic information to share with anyone other than for matching for projects on our site. All of this information is optional for you to enter but the more specific information you enter, the better your chances to turn up in a search for projects. Our only means to directly contact or identify you is your contact email address. When a company conducts a search and your profile comes up, we send you an email with that company's project information and test description and the estimated duration and time from you. If you are interested and available, you send us a "Yes, I Am Interested and Accept" reply and only then do we forward your contact details to the company and only if they request them. After that, it is up to the development company to contact you via that email address for additional information and to make test arrangements. See our FAQ web pages to learn typical test activities. If you say you are not interested in the project, we do not forward your email address to anyone. In that same email, you have other options such as completely cancelling your registration with us. Be aware though that even though you agreed via your email reply to test on this project, the company is not obligated to contact you further or use you for the project. They may get many more Yes'es than they anticipated; their project may get delayed or they may simply change their minds. You may be disappointed about that project, but if you keep your profile updated and detailed, and you will be eligible for more projects. AlphaBeta Finder does not make project matching contacts by phone although we do not prevent you from exchanging phone numbers with development project companies once you are in communication with them on a development project. Once you are on a project, telephone may become a convenient and more responsive way to communicate with them about your testing. AlphaBeta Finder only knows you by your email address. We ask for your city and country and language in case this helps you become a better match, but do not record a specific location address. If you never want to give out your real name and address, you do not have to reveal it, although if you join a development project as an Alpha or Beta user, you will very likely need to give some accurate identification so that they can converse with you. And in order to obtain a reward such as a gift certificate, travel, or check from them, your identification will of course be requested by them. These arrangements are between you and the development project company and are outside the scope of our service. If you no longer want your profile used in AlphaBeta Finder, you can temporarily or permanently de-activate it. You can also at any time delete any data you record such as removing a computer that is broken. If you wait 6 months and simply do not access or update your information, we de-activate your record for you and you then do not turn up in any searches. You can re-activate it if you change your mind and want to participate again.
Privacy for Development Project CompaniesIf you are a development project company, we do ask for your company name and web site, but you can choose not to show these in emails to Alpha and Beta users you select. You may want to do this if your project is in stealth mode. While this information is not required, we strongly urge you to provide as much detail about your company and project as you can to gain the credibility you need to enlist sincere participants.
Companies and their project information are not viewable or searchable to users of our Service. This policy keeps web site visitors from "shopping" just to see if they can gain competitive intelligence about you from our service. It also prevents users from comparing projects just to see where the best rewards are. Most importantly, it provides you with confidentiality about your project. Many development projects need to remain private until they debut in the market. Your company, project, and test information is only privately emailed to qualified users who turn up in searches that you define and only after you deliberately select them by reviewing their profile information. This allows you to refine even more the number and types of users we email for you. Once we obtain "Yes, I Accept and want to participate on this Project" email replies from those you asked that we contact for you, you can still eliminate any of those you do not want to proceed further with. We forward you email addresses of those you decide to continue with. After that point, AlphaBeta Finder is no longer involved, and it is up to you to contact them with additional test information, screen them further to make sure they are the candidates you want to work with on your project, and make test arrangements with them to obtain your hardware or software.
